Welcome to Wednesday

No, you did not miss a day; it is Thursday, not Wednesday.  This week I am implementing the Thursday Thoughts message instead of Wednesday Wisdom.  So, thinking about implementation . . .

IMPLEMENT

Thoughts:

You can think about an implement as a noun, meaning a tool, utensil, or piece of equipment used for a particular purpose. We will be considering implement as a verb which means to carry out, accomplish; to put a decision, plan, or agreement into effect. To implement means  to give practical effect to and ensure actual fulfillment by specific measures. Implementation is the execution or practice of a plan, a method or any design, idea, model, specification, standard or policy for doing something. Implementation planning is a process in project management that entails creating step-by-step instructions for completing projects. The purpose of this process is to inform members of a project team of the actions and individual tasks required to achieve the team’s strategic goals.

Good implementation planning lays the foundation for successful project execution. It creates a blueprint which your team can follow to successfully execute projects and measure their progress along the way. If a program is implemented poorly or even moderately well, its goals are unlikely to be achieved, or the results will be less significant. With high quality implementation, success is more likely.

Indeed.com suggests the following tips and steps for implementing a new process in the workplace:

1.    Define your objective and business goals.

2.    Ask for feedback from employees.

3.    Allocate the necessary resources.

4.    Communicate the implementation process.

5.    Identify leaders and take ownership.

6.    Appoint people to the project team.

7.    Consider organizational structure and culture.

Remember, the key element of successful implementation includes involvement of those affected and clear communication of the goal. This assures a common understanding, a focused project, and a high acceptance of the implementation.
